Copper Mountain is a master planned village developed under a Planned Unit Development (PUD) as authorized by Summit County. Copper is an unincorporated area in which development is overseen by the county. The Copper Mountain Consolidated Metropolitan District, guided by a five member board of directors elected by the qualified electors of the District, oversees water and wastewater, cable television, fire department, some parks and recreation, roads and administration. The original PUD was adopted in the early ‘70’s and several PUD Amendments have been approved, with the most recent being adopted in late 2008. There are approximately 590 Equivalent Units (EU’s) authorized and approved to be constructed to achieve build-out. A mixture of real estate opportunities in the Resort range from week long timeshares, to quarter shares, to full ownership of condominiums, townhomes and single family homes. The village is broken into several neighborhoods, generally referred to as the East Village (surrounding the Super Bee lift), the Center Village (around American Flyer and American Eagle lifts) and the West Village (Kokomo, High Point and Lumberjack lifts).
